Friday: Up Up and Away

Happy Friday everyone! We are very excited for the weekend and we hope you all are too! While I was driving to work the other day and I saw a hot air balloon. I thought to myself I wonder how many people incorporate those into their wedding or just balloons in general. A lot of couples use greenery or flowers but using balloons for decorating or for Save the Dates are becoming more popular.

Everyone is obsessing over the big balloons, they are perfect for save the dates!

If you want to add texture to the balloon and for the photo, tie ribbons to it like these girls did! It definitely makes it fun too!

Have balloons made with Mr. and Mrs. on them for photos, then you guests can use them as props for photos throughout the night!

Leaf stamped balloons are super cute! They give off a boho trend and the clear balloon is to die for!

Friday Facts: All about Cheese!

Happy Friday everyone! We hope everyone had a great week! Now it’s time for some relaxing and to read up on cheese! Yes, cheese! Brides today are now picking cheese as a healthier (more savory) alternative to cake. This way they still get the affect of having a cake but it is still something unique to your own personality!

Trend Alert: Equestrian Extraordinaire

People tend to plan pretty far in advance for ways to best make their wedding day outshine all those other “regular” days in their lives by incorporating elements that speak to the bride and groom’s individual or combined background and/or hobbies. For many who were once talented, young equestrians, the desire to bring significance to their day of nuptials presents the perfect opportunity to leave a bit of themselves at the event to share with their guests – who they were growing up and the individual they’ve become today – by tying in the vocabulary of horseback-riding into decorations, or simply bringing in the creatures themselves!  Luckily, these long-faced gentle giants are quite good at being both aesthetically pleasing and intriguing, so you’ll have no problem achieving the aspirations of the “dream wedding”!

Not too plain, not too fancy – what a way to subtly show off your exquisite taste!

OR even consider donning a pair of adorably spunky socks down that aisle! Pair it with  pattern-less white shoes for a perfect balance!

Let’s talk hair accessories! Try out a short, dotted veil for a more non-traditional presentation! We think this blusher veil would be especially fitting for a country or rustic-edged wedding!

Marryin’ at the Aquarium

Replete with marine life, aquariums fascinate and enthrall on a regular basis, and even more so as the setting of a wedding celebration! Extraordinary creatures of the sea glide about within glowing tanks, absolutely stunning to behold. “Finding Nemo” may have introduced them to us, but it takes truly standing in their presence in person to appreciate the power and beauty behind each stroke of the fin or thrust of the tail. Regardless, they’re still as delightful as depicted in the movies,  contributed to plenty of spectacular, sometimes whimsical memories captured on photo at these events. It’s too good of an opportunity to pass up!

Though reportedly deadly and venomous IRL, these graceful beasts can be frequently seen calmly gliding about in exhibiting tanks!

Now here’s a real gentle giant you don’t want to miss at the aquarium!

Whether to fill in as substitute ring-bearers, or to walk down the aisle with the bride and her bridesmaids, these penguins are thrilling additions to the party!

Not a sea animal, per se, but definitely a part of the aquarium’s bottom-of-the-ocean experience! If you wave hello, who knows – it may just offer a friendly greeting back!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Sunset Crest Manor A Day to Remember

Ever thought of creating your own original wedding theme? Today’s featured couple, Jessica and Frank, hosted an elegant “Best Day Ever”-themed celebration at the Sunset Crest Manor, wrapped in the comfort and freshness of the Virginian countryside! To think that three and a half years ago, the pair had merely been coworkers at an intellectual property law firm in D.C., sharing brief conversations which then grew in length, and in no time they were en route to a loving union! In the process of preparing for this day, Jessica and Frank included a fresh, cheery palette – warm hues paired with a light shade of green, adorable reception decor, and delectable provisions. Luckily, Astrid Photography was able to record this event for everyone to see just how truly special their “best day ever” was!

We hope you enjoyed this adorable wedding as much as we did! We certainly wouldn’t be in this position without our lovely team of vendors!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Memorial Continental Hall Bringing New Orleans to the DAR

Sarah and Bryan, whose connection began at their workplace in Michigan then proceeded on with a bit of salsa dancing with friends and a sushi first date, continued their special bond after relocating to Washington, DC. Three years later, while at a musical at The Kennedy Center celebrating Sarah’s birthday, Bryan finally proposed, and here we are! While choosing DAR Memorial Continental Hall as their venue, the couple also decided on a New Orleans-themed wedding, in special consideration of Bryan’s Louisiana family. Complete with a brass band, some French-inspired dessert, and a smart, simple color palette donning rosy pinks and regal gold – all of which expertly documented by Bonnie Sen Photography – the couple’s exhilarating celebration marked the beginning of a brand new chapter in their lives!

The party went on well into the night, and soon the newlyweds were whisked off to enjoy a fabulous honeymoon in Rome and the Amalfi Coast! Here at The Dandelion Patch, we would like to give a special shout-out to our vendor team for everyone’s eager cooperation!
