Floral Fanatics: The Fall-fitted Bride

Normally you’d expect the floral trend season to bloom in the springtime, when the bees are buzz-buzzing and the birds chip-chirping. But we wanted to try something different! Instead of subconsciously sinking into cooler, more desaturated values right alongside the dropping temperatures – as heaters, one by one, roar into action and simply being outdoors grows less appealing day by day – we’ve decided that this is the perfect season to don the floral aesthetic! We find the rich autumnal palette around us utterly irresistible – all the more reason to collaborate with these colors for an equally irresistible floral-patterned gown for the special day! P.S. – Dear grooms, we guarantee you’ll find it impossible to tear your gaze away once your bride steps out in full flower power!

Although going sleeveless (in the outdoors) might not be the wisest decision at this time of the year, we love the loosely embellished floral bodice and the rich teal of this bride skirt! The vibrant blue-green tone would give just the right amount of pop against the warm tones of your surroundings.

We simply can’t get over these sheer but brilliantly floral-covered elbow-length bubble sleeves! The velvet ribbon at her waist is a must-have too, because who doesn’t like velvet?

It might look conservative from the front, but subtle surprises like these not only show off your beautiful figure but are also just plain fun!

Trend Alert: Carpet Composition

Interestingly enough, psychological experiments have revealed that walking on carpeting induces less stress than walking on hard wood flooring, so it’s certainly no wonder that carpets and rugs have gained attention in the magical realm of wedding decor. Not only are they comforting to the spirit (for wedding couple and guests alike), but they also exist for their versatility as flooring. Would you consider a single elaborate, statement-making piece, or perhaps feature multiple for a more artistic, hodge-podge aesthetic? Powerful compositions of texture and intricate ornamentation give way to gorgeous, one-of-a-kind photography!

Trend Alert: A Veiled Floral Frenzy

If you asked a child to draw a bride, they’ll most likely sketch out the white wedding dress, perhaps some pretty shoes and maybe even the figure holding a bouquet of sorts, but he or she will almost always remember the wedding veil. Despite its curious origins (you’ll have to look that one up yourself!) the veil remains an essential piece of wedding attire, and, like all other worn pieces in the entire bridal composition, it has a rich history with the fashion industry. That being said, the traditional veil has evolved into various modified versions of itself, with a plethora of accessories and/or embellishments to add individual statements. With rising trends in floral-embellished veils, we’ve collected a few of our favorites here for inspiration!

Three-dimensional floral embellishments such as the ones on this mantilla veil will certainly capture the attention of all every single person the moment you step foot into the ceremony!

Simple floral lace-patches add the perfect amount of grace and charm to the look!

Gold accents will pair fabulously with both the white of the bride’s dress and the black of the groom’s!

This ballet (or waltz) length veil seems to wrap the bride up in a botanical flurry with its border patch-embellishments as if exalting the surrounded figure as the single most beautiful rose in the garden.

Although the border floral decorations are harder to see on a chapel-length veil, it’ll pair nicely with a dress with a more detailed bust.

What a clever design! Wearing a cathedral-length veil like this will appear as if gold roses are floating behind you as you glide flawlessly down that aisle!

Don’t be afraid to go all-out if your outfit calls for it, or if you are simply finding yourself helplessly desiring a cape of flowers! ‘Cause how fun would that be?

Everything’s Coming Up Lilly

Nothing says “coastal prep” quite like Lilly Pulitzer. Her vibrant designs have been a staple of southern and east coast wardrobes for more than 50 years! It’s no surprise that all of us at The Dandelion Patch are Lilly fanatics–just check out our Instagram. Today we’ve decided to take our Lilly love to a whole new level and build our dream Pulitzer-inspired wedding, complete with plenty of pink and floral accents.

While we were putting together these images we learned a little bit more about our fashion idol. Use these fun facts to impress your sorority sisters at your next chapter reunion!

1. Lilly first started selling her iconic shift dresses out of a juice stand in Palm Beach, Florida. She made her own brightly colored frocks to hide the stains from all the spilled juice, and her customers fell in love with her style!

2. Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. shut down operations in 1984 and was brought back to life in 1993 by popular demand.

3. Lilly’s first husband was the grandson of newspaper mogul Joseph Pulitzer. Yes, THAT Pulitzer. You go girl!

4. Jackie O wore a Lilly shift on the cover of LIFE magazine in 1962. Lilly became a household name overnight!
