Real Wedding Wednesday: Westbury Manor Ethereal Garden Escapade

Today’s Real Wedding finds us at Westbury Manor in Long Island, New York, where Rachel and Charles (Cap) exchange vows surrounded by sophisticated foliage of the venue’s outdoor garden. Throughout the ceremony, rich shades of greenery juxtapose tastefully with its classical counterpart in white, but not without subtle tweaks to the traditional palette that make this wedding all the more intimate! Additional hues of blush and airy blues leave the couple and loved ones faces fresh and absolutely aglow against the landscape’s outstanding elegance! Of course, none of this would be visible to us without the lovely Cadence Kennedy, who expertly captured moments from this eventful escapade to leave us in silent awe and satisfaction.

We’d like to thank all of our fellow vendors who participated and contributed their expertise to bring this wedding to life! It was great fun working with everyone, and we look forward to future collaborations!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Belmont Country Club Under Soft Rays

Mina and Andrew chose the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, VA as their wedding venue, taking advantage of the spacious green fields to celebrate their marriage in the fresh outdoors. Photography by Michael and Carina Photography successfully captured the soft sunbeams and radiant smiles of everyone in attendance! The entire event exuded comfortable simplicity, while materials and decor included clearly involved much pristine planning and execution. Overall, the intimate elegance of this day is definitely something to desire and cherish!

We would also like to thank our fellow vendors on the team who contributed their hard work and innovation to this lovely day!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Spring Creek Golf Club Joining in Jubilance

“From there, I quickly began to fall for her.”

Bryan’s recounting of their story, starting with how he and Maggie shared their first moments of laughter in the common room of his college dorm, illustrated a love built on many years of friendship and one that many dream about one day calling their own. Soft shades of seafoam green juxtaposes elegantly with the stark tones and lines delineating the UVA Chapel where they married. Photography by Meredith Sledge is truly captivating, not only transforming everyone’s celebratory spirit from this special day to into tangible memories but also allowing those of us not present at the event to get a feel of the joy and cheer!

As usual, we enjoyed every moment of working with our excellent team of vendors! This wedding would not have been possible without you!

Doting on Dots, Part Two: People & Parties

In Monday’s “Part One: Cakes & Bakes“, we posted about all things sweet and Swiss-dotted. Here, we give you Part Two, a compilation of similarly patterned reception decor as well as some delightfully dotted wedding fashion pieces for further inspiration!

Sweet dotted accents gently drift along to the breeze – it’s absolutely feasible if you’re looking for that level of calm and cool!

Add a nibble of of chic coziness to your reception with Swiss-dotted table cloth!

A pretty bow in the back brings a lovely fairy tale quality to this magical day!

But they also work in Boho, beach-themed celebrations! This time, don’t hesitate to deck out in dots from head-to-toe!

Featured Below: Want That Wedding

Not too plain, not too fancy – what a way to subtly show off your exquisite taste!

OR even consider donning a pair of adorably spunky socks down that aisle! Pair it with  pattern-less white shoes for a perfect balance!

Let’s talk hair accessories! Try out a short, dotted veil for a more non-traditional presentation! We think this blusher veil would be especially fitting for a country or rustic-edged wedding!

Swiss dots have a magical ability to mix n’ match with many other patterned material, such as the floral swirl patches at the edges of this fingertip-length veil.

Surely after all this, you must want to give this texture a try! Don’t just limit your options to decor and wedding wear – consider applying them to your paper goods? You tell us what you want, and we’ll work with you to produce some gorgeous invitations in preparation for your gorgeous wedding! Doting on Dots, Part One: Cakes & Bakes

Not just any dots, now – here we’re specifically talking Swiss dots, as in the cute, teeny-tiny ones that settle adorably against its a constant background. The “dotted Swiss” (coined to describe tiny raised dots against transparent tulle material) patterning has hung around since the 19th century, but has, since then, expanded beyond its original fabric definition. Its widespread involvement in the wedding industry has brought about the application of this texture on wedding dessert too, making cakes look absolutely darling! Due to the general popularity of this look, we’ve decided to divide the topic into two separate blogs, with part two coming on Friday!

Section them out with zigzags to create “nice negative space”, an art professors might critique.

Flatter, smaller, much more accessible – a form that’s all the better to eat ’em in!

Traditionally, Swiss dots come white on white, but there’s no harm in playing around with some brighter hues and values!

Or, use the dots as a coordinating agent when it comes to cake design!

What a neon surprise! Flourescent dots certainly add a “zing” to the cake!

Mini-cakes should adopt the Swiss dot concept too!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Belle Haven Country Club Merry in Monochrome

This week’s Real Wedding Wednesday brings you the tasteful black-and-white themed wedding ceremony of Lindsey and KJ! While already captivating in their elegantly juxtaposed attire – pleasantly matched with white and green bouquets and boutonnieres – the lovebirds made no attempt to conceal their abounding exuberance as they exchanged vows in the presence of friends and family. The Patchettes were able to contribute accordingly with the monochrome theme, providing a simple, classy paper suite for the entire event. The reception took place later that day at the Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria. As brought to us by the talents of our friendor, Rodney Bailey, both newlyweds and their guests enjoyed the rest of the evening with a live band, a spacious dance floor, perhaps some cigars, and even a surprise birthday celebration!

It was absolutely delightful to work with this lovely team of friendors; and to Lindsey and KJ, we wish you the most merry path forward!

Trend Alert: ‘Shoe’lda Brought That Spare Pair

Whether you want to replace those pretty, thin stilettos altogether or play it safe with an extra pair as back-up, here are some additional options in footwear for the comfort-seeking bride! Why walk down the aisle bracing yourself for screaming feet later when there are much more agreeable and equally exquisite alternatives available? We want you parading through your big day with your toes and ankles happy and blister-free! Ribbons, glass-crystals and lace are a great way to spice up your fine-tuned white attire. A glitzy sparkle here and there won’t hurt either!

Flats exude just as much charm and elegance as any wedding heel, simply leaving out those 4-5 inches of temporary height. We love the sheer mesh material of these Christian Louboutin flats!

Mid-block heels offer both height and stability, a genius combination, if you ask me. You’ll be making quite the statement as you stroll about clad in this blush-toned velvet!

No pinchy shoes? Surely it’s not too difficult to find a pair of flat sandals that will satisfy all needs. In the meantime, just let your toes breathe in all that wonderful sunlight!

An Elegant Garden Editorial

This editorial project is one that we’re extremely proud of! There’s almost no words to describe the photos from that day at The National Cathedral School in DC. They’re simply enchanted! Margo of Bright Occasions really out did herself on this wedding inspiration shoot, and she perfectly matched the look of our pretty paper. Photographer Bonnie Sen Photography did a fabulous job of capturing every detail too, from the piano to that pear-cut ring. To see more of her flawless shots, you can find this elegant garden editorial featured on OnceWed

Real Wedding Wednesday: Elizabeth and Paul

Elizabeth and Paul’s wedding was elegant and sophisticated! Their big day had subtle nods to their Parisian engagement, but we love their choice not to go over the top with a full-on theme. This couple’s vision was captured beautifully by Kristen Gardner Photography–and the results are flawless.

This invitation suite was traditional with a twist! The bride herself helped create the family crest–and we think it looks great!

Our friends at Edge Flowers did a great job with all of Elizabeth and Paul’s floral arrangements. We love the classic pink for the bride’s bouquet!

We mention how much we love D.C. weddings at least once a week, but we just can’t stop! How can you not want a backdrop like this for your big day?

A hand-painted cake with fresh flowers on top is so perfectly on trend for the most recent wedding seasons!

Overall, the color choices and the elegance of The Hay-Adams (their venue) really came together for one picture-perfect day.
