Marryin’ at the Aquarium

Replete with marine life, aquariums fascinate and enthrall on a regular basis, and even more so as the setting of a wedding celebration! Extraordinary creatures of the sea glide about within glowing tanks, absolutely stunning to behold. “Finding Nemo” may have introduced them to us, but it takes truly standing in their presence in person to appreciate the power and beauty behind each stroke of the fin or thrust of the tail. Regardless, they’re still as delightful as depicted in the movies,  contributed to plenty of spectacular, sometimes whimsical memories captured on photo at these events. It’s too good of an opportunity to pass up!

Though reportedly deadly and venomous IRL, these graceful beasts can be frequently seen calmly gliding about in exhibiting tanks!

Now here’s a real gentle giant you don’t want to miss at the aquarium!

Not a sea animal, per se, but definitely a part of the aquarium’s bottom-of-the-ocean experience! If you wave hello, who knows – it may just offer a friendly greeting back!

Palette Patch: Red As A Poppy, Blue Like Robin Eggs

Poppy red isn’t usually one to make an appearance during wedding season – especially not during the summertime. Being so close in color tone with primary red, it would often be paired with colors to reflect specific themes and reasons of celebration. For instance, when paired with green or white, people think Christmas; when paired with blue, people think America. Imagine our surprise as we discovered another color-combo fit for our current sun-kissed season! Poppy red, paired with lighter hues of blue or aqua – “robin egg blue”, as we would like to call it. This juxtaposed pairing not only successfully steers clear of both Christmastime and American themes, but it manages also to exert its own quality and ambience! Keep scrolling to check for more inspirations!

You want to be marrying a handsome man that’ll come to sweep you off your feet come wedding day! We suggest wearing a robin egg blue boutonniere or blue suspenders to perfect your color-coordination.

Umbrellas in the summer: we call them “Sun-brellas”!

Perhaps it’s due to the strawberries pooled at its base that the cake now knows how to maintain its summer day vibes with its otherwise red-and-blue exterior!

Aside from the flowing, calf-length dress and those absolutely gorgeous peep-toe heels – what else would you still need once you’ve got both a polished husband-to-be and a spunky little pup right by your side!

In addition to retro, people have incorporated our featured color pair in beach or ocean themed weddings, just with the addition of a few simple seashells and painted twigs to mimic coral.

Whether or not you decide that this is the color palette for you, we’ll be more than happy to help you create perfectly fitting stationary for your wedding! Come check out our gallery of pretty paper for more inspiration at The Dandelion Patch on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Christina & Grayson

This real wedding was a spectacular, lake side day! Christina and Grayson are such a beautiful, kind couple! They held their wedding at Christina’s father’s house, creating the most perfect back drop for their ceremony and reception. The planners at Pineapple Productions did an amazing job of styling the property, and the photographers at Birds of a Feather captured it perfectly! We’re still swooning over this first shot of our pretty paper!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Erica & Ben

It’s Real Wedding Wednesday! This gem of a wedding was recently shared by our dear friend and photographer Rodney Bailey. Like the rest of us, Rodney is a big fan of Newseum weddings. It’s really become a DC staple venue, and we’re not surprised! This stunning museum makes such a beautiful wedding backdrop, and we loved seeing the space come alive for Erica and Ben’s big day. The lovely women of A Sweet Soiree did an expert job of planning a celebration to remember!

Real Wedding Wednesday: Hannah and Matt

This wedding is so special. It’s hard to know where to start when describing Hannah and Matt’s big day. Every detail is flawless! First, Hannah and Matt look like a fairytale couple – simply radiant! Then, there’s the custom monogram that we created for their invitations and pretty paper. The couple decided to use the monogram through out the day, from pillows to their cake. We couldn’t believe our eyes! Seriously – you need to keep scrolling until you see their cocktail hour space. We’re talking velvet, emerald couches and a marble bar! Hannah and Matt’s wedding will certainly not be forgotten any time soon. Congrats to planner Kelley Cannon for giving us this masterpiece! Also, Sarah Bradshaw Photography outdid themselves too. It was a huge struggle to decide which images to post!
