Trend Alert: Boots on the Loose

This time around the year is usually when people start reaching in their shoe closets to exchange their flats and light sneakers for boots to better fit the chilling weather outside – so it’s only fair if brides and bridesmaids get to don cozy, protective footwear on this special day too! And yes: it IS possible to look cute while wearing clunky boots! Don’t believe us? Just keep reading, and we’ll try not to remind you at the end that “we told you so”!

Floral Fanatics: The Fall-fitted Bride

Normally you’d expect the floral trend season to bloom in the springtime, when the bees are buzz-buzzing and the birds chip-chirping. But we wanted to try something different! Instead of subconsciously sinking into cooler, more desaturated values right alongside the dropping temperatures – as heaters, one by one, roar into action and simply being outdoors grows less appealing day by day – we’ve decided that this is the perfect season to don the floral aesthetic! We find the rich autumnal palette around us utterly irresistible – all the more reason to collaborate with these colors for an equally irresistible floral-patterned gown for the special day! P.S. – Dear grooms, we guarantee you’ll find it impossible to tear your gaze away once your bride steps out in full flower power!

Featured Below: Jeremy Boyer Photography

Although going sleeveless (in the outdoors) might not be the wisest decision at this time of the year, we love the loosely embellished floral bodice and the rich teal of this bride skirt! The vibrant blue-green tone would give just the right amount of pop against the warm tones of your surroundings.

We simply can’t get over these sheer but brilliantly floral-covered elbow-length bubble sleeves! The velvet ribbon at her waist is a must-have too, because who doesn’t like velvet?

It might look conservative from the front, but subtle surprises like these not only show off your beautiful figure but are also just plain fun!

The delicate lace detailing of roses and tiny bursts of red blooms on this dress complement each other so well!

Take advantage of your bridesmaids! Let their dresses amplify your presence! Who wouldn’t want to show off when you’re wearing such a unique and classy piece?

With an elegant, embroidered collar and floral-lace mid-sleeves, this vintage look will not escape anyone’s eyes!

Flower Crowns for the Non-Bride

Flower crowns have remained a favorite among bridal hair accessories as boho trends continue to trickle through the wedding community. Typically, one would expect the bride to wear it down the aisle, as the bright blooms work to be quite attention-grabbing. Today’s post, however, brings consideration to the inverse: what would happen if other featured guests at your celebration had the opportunity to flaunt their own set of fragrant floral circlets upon their heads as well?

No one will be able to direct their gazes elsewhere when this little darling steps out in a crown of rosy blooms!

Make that TWO little darlings! Matching florals will have hearts melting in no time!

You’ll be the one in white, alright – experiment with brighter colors, and you’ll find that it does nothing to detract attention from yourself!

“…anyone can be a princess today,” declared Mia Thermopolis of the Princess Die. Well, guess what, grandmothers – so can you!

Doting on Dots, Part One: Cakes & Bakes

Not just any dots, now – here we’re specifically talking Swiss dots, as in the cute, teeny-tiny ones that settle adorably against its a constant background. The “dotted Swiss” (coined to describe tiny raised dots against transparent tulle material) patterning has hung around since the 19th century, but has, since then, expanded beyond its original fabric definition. Its widespread involvement in the wedding industry has brought about the application of this texture on wedding dessert too, making cakes look absolutely darling! Due to the general popularity of this look, we’ve decided to divide the topic into two separate blogs, with part two coming on Friday!

Featured Below: Fab You Bliss

Section them out with zigzags to create “nice negative space”, an art professors might critique.

Flatter, smaller, much more accessible – a form that’s all the better to eat ’em in!

Featured Below: Life With Mar

Traditionally, Swiss dots come white on white, but there’s no harm in playing around with some brighter hues and values!

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

Or, use the dots as a coordinating agent when it comes to cake design!

Featured Below: The Cake Blog

What a neon surprise! Flourescent dots certainly add a “zing” to the cake!

Mini-cakes should adopt the Swiss dot concept too!

Palette Patch: A Splash of Coral In the Turquoise Sea

Today’s Palette Patch presents yet another summer favorite wedding color palette: Coral and turquoise! In the past, people have frequently incorporated this color scheme in ceremonies on beachy shores or rustic ranches. Regardless of which setting you choose, these near-complimentary colors are undeniably exhilarating and will surely your leave your guests with vivid memories of this day!

Picture this: a single coral carnation, floating calmly in the gentle waves of the sea… Too cheesy? Yeah, well, it still looks too perfect for eating, so no harm done.

What’s more fun than being a flower girl at a beach wedding? Getting dolled up in a fancy dress with coral and turquoise ribbons and sashes, duh!

These high-saturation hues work wonders in the smallest details of a bridal outfit, aka the jewelry department!

Featured Below: Ruffled

All this bright color in front, above, behind…you’d expect it to be overwhelming, but the massive amount of white and silver is there to provide the satisfying aesthetic balance!

Starfish and burlap seem to be a reoccurring theme when it comes to a coral-and-turquoise combo – and why not? They all look great together!

The great thing about cupcakes is that you can get them to easily match any color scheme – all you need is faith, trust, and lots of food coloring!

Or, if you’re one to prefer a more toned-down version of this palette, a light soothing turquoise shade has its own magical way of achieving beauty too!

These gorgeous bridal kimonos are more than enough to sway us! Who wouldn’t want to bring home one of these as a wedding souvenir?

Trend Alert: The Low Ponytail Look

As a part of your physical characteristics, the style of your hair also contributes to the overall impression you want to give your guests. Today we bring, to all brides and bridesmaids, a style that’s stayed somewhat under the radar in recent years, resilient against the lack of attention its received compared to braids or elaborate up-dos: the low ponytail. And no, we promise you won’t look like someone who had a bad chop and has no clue how to get the hair of their face otherwise (speaking from personal experience here!)

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

The effortless look of a natural, tousled hair-wrapped ponytail not only exudes chill but also gives more opportunities to go loud and proud with one’s jewelry!

Featured Below: Missy Sue

If you’ve got longer hair, we recommend going with big waves for volume, but one that’s more controlled than if you’d left your hair entirely down. Throw in a braid or two for added natural embellishment!

Featured Below: Dear Pearl Flowers

Keep your style subtle with a flower-shaped braid!

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

A major concept of the low ponytail is it’s intentional messy, what-the-heck appearance. But where do you even start in figuring out the styling process when it looks like this wonderful tumble of knots?

Featured Below: Harper’s BAZAAR

A straight low ponytail speaks to the clean-cut sophistication of modern times! Feel free to accessories with a single ribbon or hairpin to soften any unintended harshness.

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

Last but not least, there is always the option of accessorizing! Include a embellished headband, some floral accents; or, like our bride pictured above, make your style ‘berry’ beautiful with a blackberry crown!

We’d love to see how a low ponytail will look on you! Let us help create your ideal wedding stationary, and we will feature your trendy hairstyle in our weekly Real Wedding blog posts! Share and connect with us, The Dandelion Patch, on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter!
