Trend Alert: Boots on the Loose

This time around the year is usually when people start reaching in their shoe closets to exchange their flats and light sneakers for boots to better fit the chilling weather outside – so it’s only fair if brides and bridesmaids get to don cozy, protective footwear on this special day too! And yes: it IS possible to look cute while wearing clunky boots! Don’t believe us? Just keep reading, and we’ll try not to remind you at the end that “we told you so”!

Go emerald green for a strong win-win: not only does it perfectly match any classic greenery and white palette for aesthetically pleasing photo opportunities, but your bridesmaids will most likely remain best friends with you forever just for the fact that you got her Hunter boots in a color that’ll look good with anything.

Even though they’re supposed to be covered by your skirt for most of the event, a pair so lustrous and dazzling will not subject to being hidden underneath forever!

Bean boots are not only in trend, but also gender fluid! Take this opportunity to get yourselves some matching footwear for one of the most important days of your lives!

Floral Fanatics: The Fall-fitted Bride

Normally you’d expect the floral trend season to bloom in the springtime, when the bees are buzz-buzzing and the birds chip-chirping. But we wanted to try something different! Instead of subconsciously sinking into cooler, more desaturated values right alongside the dropping temperatures – as heaters, one by one, roar into action and simply being outdoors grows less appealing day by day – we’ve decided that this is the perfect season to don the floral aesthetic! We find the rich autumnal palette around us utterly irresistible – all the more reason to collaborate with these colors for an equally irresistible floral-patterned gown for the special day! P.S. – Dear grooms, we guarantee you’ll find it impossible to tear your gaze away once your bride steps out in full flower power!

Although going sleeveless (in the outdoors) might not be the wisest decision at this time of the year, we love the loosely embellished floral bodice and the rich teal of this bride skirt! The vibrant blue-green tone would give just the right amount of pop against the warm tones of your surroundings.

We simply can’t get over these sheer but brilliantly floral-covered elbow-length bubble sleeves! The velvet ribbon at her waist is a must-have too, because who doesn’t like velvet?

It might look conservative from the front, but subtle surprises like these not only show off your beautiful figure but are also just plain fun!

Take advantage of your bridesmaids! Let their dresses amplify your presence! Who wouldn’t want to show off when you’re wearing such a unique and classy piece?

Real Wedding: New York Public Library Glamorous Nuptials

The brides, Lauren and Emily, were absolutely radiant as they celebrated their love with an intimate wedding and a glamorous reception. While keeping their wedding tasteful and personal, the couple made sure to let their overarching concept of “modern meets traditional” shine through, evident through photography by Roey Yohai. Their invitation included a classy fan motif inspired by the cover art of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel and gold foil-embossed lettering. To celebrate their Jewish heritage, they first held a private ceremony to sign their kebutah, or wedding contract, edited so that traditional concepts of husband-and-wife could instead speak more to their modern, same-sex marriage. Later, with a party overflowing with both glam and grand, they rounded up the day’s events at the New York Public Library with a fabulous reception featuring exquisite jewel-toned florals and exotic lighting! They expressed their gratitude for the love and support showered upon them by friends and family to help them celebrate “the most important day of [their] lives”!

Thanks and cheers to all vendors on the team for such a successful evening! We can’t wait for another opportunity to work together!

Trend Alert: Bows in Bloom

The idea of bows on dresses seems like such an antiquated, childish concept, but we’re seeing a recent breakthrough of bow decoration, especially in wedding fashion! When you’ve only got one main color to work with, you’ll find these bows blooming on dresses in surprisingly fresh and contemporary directions! Keep reading to see a sampling of  variations in bow size, shape, color, and location on your next bow-adorned dress!

Trend Alert: A Veiled Floral Frenzy

If you asked a child to draw a bride, they’ll most likely sketch out the white wedding dress, perhaps some pretty shoes and maybe even the figure holding a bouquet of sorts, but he or she will almost always remember the wedding veil. Despite its curious origins (you’ll have to look that one up yourself!) the veil remains an essential piece of wedding attire, and, like all other worn pieces in the entire bridal composition, it has a rich history with the fashion industry. That being said, the traditional veil has evolved into various modified versions of itself, with a plethora of accessories and/or embellishments to add individual statements. With rising trends in floral-embellished veils, we’ve collected a few of our favorites here for inspiration!

Featured Below: Twigs & Honey

Three-dimensional floral embellishments such as the ones on this mantilla veil will certainly capture the attention of all every single person the moment you step foot into the ceremony!

Featured Below: Ruffled

Simple floral lace-patches add the perfect amount of grace and charm to the look!

Gold accents will pair fabulously with both the white of the bride’s dress and the black of the groom’s!

Featured Below: InStyle

This ballet (or waltz) length veil seems to wrap the bride up in a botanical flurry with its border patch-embellishments as if exalting the surrounded figure as the single most beautiful rose in the garden.

Featured Below: BHLDN

Although the border floral decorations are harder to see on a chapel-length veil, it’ll pair nicely with a dress with a more detailed bust.

Featured Below: Tumblr

What a clever design! Wearing a cathedral-length veil like this will appear as if gold roses are floating behind you as you glide flawlessly down that aisle!

Featured Below: Tumblr

Don’t be afraid to go all-out if your outfit calls for it, or if you are simply finding yourself helplessly desiring a cape of flowers! ‘Cause how fun would that be?

Trend Alert: Feathered Formalities

Feathers have braved the ups and downs of the fashion industry and withstood time, consistently re-emerging as the “latest fad” after adapting a different image. We can trace back to as early as the Medieval culture, when those of high society could afford to show off their status through plumage, to most recently as people’s interest in the light material became re-associated with the 1920s following the premier of Baz Lurhmann’s adaptation of The Great Gatsby. But back to our talk of wedding trends: one word – FEATHERS! They represent such rich history from the world of fashion that it would be quite disappointing to leave them out of this discussion!

Featured Below: Elizabeth Anne Designs

Instead of hair accessories with giant, fluffy feathers mimicking trends of prior decades (or centuries) you can keep things contemporary and concise without looking any less chic!

Featured Below: Wedding Chicks

If the bride gets to be all decked up in bird, then the groom does too!

Featured Below: Green Wedding Shoes, Love My Dress

Let’s talk bouquets: go all out with a handful of feathers (like the one featured at the wedding of Joe Karnes, of band Fitz and the Tantrums), or perhaps try one that employs only a few for a Great Gatsby aesthetic!

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

You’ve got the added embellishments of pure, white feathers, but they don’t consume your entire figure – quite a win-win, don’t you think?

Pictured above: the winning argument in convincing just about anyone to commit to a feather-filled celebration.

Featured Below: Ruffled

Who needs a fanfare of trumpets when you can just have giant feathers to section out sacred ground for the arrival of the bride?

No one wants a half-completed cake. You need one that’s fully-fledged, like this one!

Trend Alert: Minimalist Materials

The rising trend of minimalist fashion has finally set foot as an established label within wedding wear. In the past year or so, designers have honed in on the poised simplicity and subtle elegance of the style, creating looks that mimicked those that were heavily embraced in the early 90s. Minimalism places more weight on characterizing function and comfort than elaborate and distinctive features. For wedding dresses in particular, minimalist styles attempt to draw attention to the natural beauty of the figure wearing the dress (rather than bury the bride in a mountain of expensive fabric and lace!)

Featured Below: Glamour

Clean-cut and decisive edges build up the minimalist statement! Though completely unadorned, a gown like this is guaranteed to make heads turn!

Featured Below: BHLDN

The ballgown look exudes just the right amount of princess-ness, and with the added modern touch of the plunging V-neck and spaghetti straps to help show off your figure, there’s no reason to not embrace the idea of being the belle of your own wedding ball!

Featured Below: Festival Brides

The subtlety of minimalist fashion never gets old! A dress with a simple, modest front almost always has something unexpected going on in the back, cue image above.

A bit of lace never killed nobody…except in the fashion arena of the wedding ceremony!

Paired with mesh lines that trace the natural curves of one’s figure, this streamline gown does wonders for the female body! Pull the look together with some white lace gloves to bring out the complete modern vintage vibe.

A high slit in your skirt will ensure that when your legs get too claustrophobic underneath, it can peep out and breathe effortlessly!

Trend Alert: The Low Ponytail Look

As a part of your physical characteristics, the style of your hair also contributes to the overall impression you want to give your guests. Today we bring, to all brides and bridesmaids, a style that’s stayed somewhat under the radar in recent years, resilient against the lack of attention its received compared to braids or elaborate up-dos: the low ponytail. And no, we promise you won’t look like someone who had a bad chop and has no clue how to get the hair of their face otherwise (speaking from personal experience here!)

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

The effortless look of a natural, tousled hair-wrapped ponytail not only exudes chill but also gives more opportunities to go loud and proud with one’s jewelry!

Featured Below: Missy Sue

If you’ve got longer hair, we recommend going with big waves for volume, but one that’s more controlled than if you’d left your hair entirely down. Throw in a braid or two for added natural embellishment!

Featured Below: Dear Pearl Flowers

Keep your style subtle with a flower-shaped braid!

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

A major concept of the low ponytail is it’s intentional messy, what-the-heck appearance. But where do you even start in figuring out the styling process when it looks like this wonderful tumble of knots?

Featured Below: Harper’s BAZAAR

A straight low ponytail speaks to the clean-cut sophistication of modern times! Feel free to accessories with a single ribbon or hairpin to soften any unintended harshness.

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

Last but not least, there is always the option of accessorizing! Include a embellished headband, some floral accents; or, like our bride pictured above, make your style ‘berry’ beautiful with a blackberry crown!

We’d love to see how a low ponytail will look on you! Let us help create your ideal wedding stationary, and we will feature your trendy hairstyle in our weekly Real Wedding blog posts! Share and connect with us, The Dandelion Patch, on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter!

Trend Alert: ‘Shoe’lda Brought That Spare Pair

Whether you want to replace those pretty, thin stilettos altogether or play it safe with an extra pair as back-up, here are some additional options in footwear for the comfort-seeking bride! Why walk down the aisle bracing yourself for screaming feet later when there are much more agreeable and equally exquisite alternatives available? We want you parading through your big day with your toes and ankles happy and blister-free! Ribbons, glass-crystals and lace are a great way to spice up your fine-tuned white attire. A glitzy sparkle here and there won’t hurt either!

Featured Below: Style Me Pretty

Flats exude just as much charm and elegance as any wedding heel, simply leaving out those 4-5 inches of temporary height. We love the sheer mesh material of these Christian Louboutin flats!

Mid-block heels offer both height and stability, a genius combination, if you ask me. You’ll be making quite the statement as you stroll about clad in this blush-toned velvet!
