Confessions of a Customer
We've had celebrity shoppers before in The Dandelion
Patch, and she was no different. She had her
usual
fairly short-in-stature security detail with her,
and she clearly was a woman who knew what she
was looking for - a gift expert for sure.
"I saw these on 'The Today Show' and I just had to
make the trip to the store," she gushed as she
picked up a Tervis Tumbler. "Did you know these
were the world's
first insulated tumbler, a virtually indestructible
drinking vessel that keeps cold drinks colder and hot
drinks hotter? Your parents and grandparents
probably still have them floating around the house
somewhere," she said looking over her glasses, a
white curl of hair framing the smile in her eyes.
She was buying it for her husband, that was certain.
We pride ourselves in knowing our customers at The
Dandelion Patch, and we knew her husband logged
thousands of travel miles annually, with most of his
work taking him away from home this month. Summer
is a slow time for him, and we've done the invitations
for their summer pool bash for years.
"Just the thing for his cocoa this year," she said,
smiling. "I swear he had one once, but lost it in flight
a few years back, over Indonesia, of all places." She
collected a few extra items -- gifts for her elves and
reindeer, no
doubt, and came to the register.
"You all have a very Merry Christmas," she said with
a grin as we wrapped her purchase. "Don't forget to
hang out your stockings, and we'll see about
those pool party invitations in June!"
The white fur edge on her red coat swept elegantly
behind her as
Mrs. Claus left The Dandelion Patch.
